E69- Modern Era Submissions - TLC Reactions

WWE Pro Wrestling Podcast 12/21/18....A loaded episode this week as we are wrapping up our latest trilogy, reacting to the Vince McMahon announcement on Raw, and reacting to TLC 2018...So much going on that we have a Sorry for Marking 1st and 2 Gimmick Segments this week...

The 1st of which is a Smark Report as we give our thoughts on the announcement of a new era and fresh start on Raw this week...What does it all mean exactly and what are our expectations going forward? What could a new era look like for us fans? If you read between the lines we think there is potential for some good change here...

Then in our TLC reactions we are giving out some awards, and spoiler alert....The TLC main event walks away with a pretty good haul of SFM awards this week...The ladies stepped up once again and capped off what was a very good PPV show...

Then in our Main Event we are in the modern era finishing up our trilogy on Submissions...We kick things off with gimmick segment #2 as we fill out a new Mt Rushmore with our favorite submission moves of all time...Then we look at the modern era and see if there are any wrestlers out there who fit the criteria for great submissions we laid out in our previous episodes....And could we be in for a resurgence of submission moments?..There are some big time starts leading the charge trying to make this era the best ever for submissions...

WWE Pro Wrestling 12/14/18....It was an interesting week on Raw as we saw Seth Rollins flirt with that kayfabe line and blame GM Corbin(aka writers & Vince) for Raw's struggles of late...We discuss our thoughts on this in our Gimmick Segment as we start the show with a Smark Report...Was this the plan all along or just WWE trying to make some lemonade out of lemons...

Then in our Main Event we continue our trilogy on Submissions...This week we are in the Ruthless Aggression Era and talking about the ingredients for a great submission...What does it take and who in the RA Era are perfect examples of this?...

Then we work our way through the very full TLC card and talk about the good, bad, and everything in between from the go home shows...We have full predictions and a very deserving Mark Out Performer winner this week...Someone we have been trying to talk about for a long time now...

E66- Modern WTF Moments - Survivor Series Reactions

We kick things off in our Gimmick Segment reacting to Survivor Series 18...The Ronda factor showed up again. Are we headed towards a 4 Horsewomen feud and is that even what we want?...We see both sides of Brock in the main event...The cruiserweights show out in their much deserved spot on the main card, as Wes is trying to deal with his conflicted feeling towards Buddy Murphy...A fun show that was carried by the big 1 on 1 matches, but which match wins our Match of the Night award and who is walking away with our Mark Out awards this week?

Then in our Main Event we are wrapping up what has been a very fun and crazy trilogy on WTF Moments...This week we are staying right here in the modern era and seeing how this era has handled the bar being set so high from our eras crazy WTF moments...The formula had to change but how has WWE adapted to still give us fun and very memorable moments that made us all say WTF?...

E65- RA Era WTF - Big Survivor Series Changes

What a week in our wrestling world! And we are back here around the WWE water cooler to unpack all of the big news...Becky decides Raw will also become her show now after an epic invasion...Just when the excitement for her match with Rousey hit its peak, we got the bad news..We sort through all this and ask if this could end up being another positive for Becky, aka The Man, in the long run...And over on the blue brand, more huge news...We have a brand new champion and a brand new heel...We love the move here at SFM as it gives Bryan a needed spark...

E64- Attitude Era WTF Moments - PWI Womens Ranks

Inspired by the events at this past week's Crown Jewel event...We are starting a brand new trilogy this week...biggest WTF Moments of our Eras...This is going to be a fun one...We start back in the Attitude Era where Chace takes us back to some insane mark out moments from that time...Out of all the memorable AE moments to pick from what does Chace choose to base this main event around?

But before that we kick things off in our Gimmick Segment where we are revisiting our list of Top 5 Women's wrestlers from a few episodes back...PWI has released their official Top 100 so we can finally get some answers and closure on our big Alexa Bliss/Asuka debate...Where do they fall on the new list and we discuss a surprise at the #1 spot...

Then we wrap things up with some current news and its pretty business as usual there...Becky Lynch is awesome. Brock is the Universal Champion. And Shane McMahon is the best in the world...So yea, typical stuff...But we catch up with where we are coming out of the big Crown Jewel show and give out some much deserved Mark Out awards...

E63- Evolution - Drafting New Main Event Scenes

Evolution is the big story this week after the women got their shot and they delivered in a big way...It was one of those shows where everything just worked and it lead to a lot of mark out moments...Including Becky & Charlotte putting on a match of the year level performance...But even with so much good on the show, the Mark Out Awards winner was actually very easy to pick...

In our Gimmick Segment we are continuing to adjust to life after Roman...This week we are holding a mini draft and overhauling the World Title scene on each show by selecting 4 wrestlers we would build our main event scene around...The 1st couple of picks are pretty obvious in our opinion but after that things start to get very interesting...

And we wrap up discussing Fridays Crown Jewel show, the good and the bad...Yes it's a very loaded card but at some point deos that start to take away our traditional big shows?...But there are some big stakes match ups and a tournament loaded with big names and talent...It should be fun...

E62- Funny Trilogy: Modern Era - Thank You Roman

WWE Podcast...It's been an emotional week in our wrestling world and we are here around our WWE water cooler to help us all get through it together...And it ends up being one of our favorite episodes full of great discussion...We face the big news Roman dropped on Monday and the actions of Dean Ambrose later in the night...You have to break news like this into 2 parts, you of course have the human level but after that the show must go on...On the business side how does WWE move forward as a big chapter in this era is forcefully coming to a close...Who do we see as ready to attempt to fill the shoes of face of the company Roman Reigns?...

Then we try our best to shift gears as we are wrapping up our Funny Trilogy, this week in the Modern Era...It took some discussing but by the end of the main event segment I think we were able to finally figure out what's different between the humor of our Attitude and RA Era and humor today...We see some people who show flashes of comedic talent, maybe they just need a little more opportunity to show it...And things of course end with a mini R Truth love fest...because of course it does...

Then we wrap up getting everyone ready for Evolution this weekend...What are we looking forward to the most and how do we think the overall build has been for the show?

E61- Funny Trilogy:RA Era - SD 1000

We're back after a short break away from our WWE water cooler here and we have lots to catch up on...We kick things off joining in on the SD 1000 celebration...In our Gimmick Segment we are going full nostalgia and talking about our most memorable moments from our Attitude and Ruthless Aggression Eras...

In our Main Event we are finally picking things back up in our Funny Trilogy...This week we are in the Ruthless Aggression Era and Wes brings his A game with some classic RA performers...We talk Stone Cold Steve Austin as a chicken shit heel. This was a very different Rattlesnake than the one we all had known but it was during this time Austin showed he really is one of the all time greats...And of course you don't talk RA Era comedy with talking about a certain superhero...Stand back!! Hurricane and The Rock had plenty of hilarious moments for us to laugh about as we go back and relive some of their classic interactions...

 

Then we wrap up with the current stories as these shows are coming at us fast as WWE rolls on to their next big shows...The Raw Main Event scene has been really good but are we ready to see some fresh matchups?...Why is Chace comparing DX and The Brothers of Destruction to The Power Rangers?...Who has us buzzing coming out of a jam packed Smackdown 1000 episode?...

E55- Summerslam Reactions - Mark Out Awards

WWE Pro Wrestling Podcast...The SFM crew is back reacting to a very fun few days in the WWE world..After the dust settled coming out of Summerslam we have several reasons to be excited...The Universal Title is back on Raw and we FINALLY have a main event picture again...This changes the whole landscape now that this loaded roster has something to shoot for and compete for every week...Oh and btw the SHIELD makes a surprise return(!!!) and gives us all the mark out feels...The Raw women's division also got a major shake up with Ronda Rousey winning her first title in dominant fashion. So dominant in fact it makes us wonder who on this roster will be able to step up and challenge the new champ...Where do we see this division headed as the build for Evolution begins?

Then over on the blue brand we saw some feuds take major steps during SS and the following fiery episode of Smackdown...Between Joe/Styles, Becky/Charlotte, & Orton/Hardy we have some intense personal feuds building and we can't wait to see where these stories go...And New Day capped off a great 4 day stretch by winning the Tag Team Titles for the 5th time...

We we're needing a jolt of energy heading into this show and SS delivered that in a big way...We are fired up coming out of the Biggest Party of the Summer and excited to see where everything goes from here...

E52 - Attitude Era Summerslams - Fantasy Booking Evolution

WWE Pro Wrestling Podcast...Of course we couldn't start a wrestling show this week without first discussing the big announcement on Raw. AN ALL WOMEN PPV!!! We talk about the significance of this and how far women's wrestling has come, but we also have to make fun of WWE's handling of it a bit...Then we take it a step further ad start fantasy booking some dream matches we would like to see for the show...They are bringing back former women for this show so there was no shortage of fun matchups for us to choose from...

Then in our Main Event we are celebrating Summerslam season by starting a new trilogy...SUMMERSLAM MAIN EVENTS...This week we begin back in the Attitude Era as Chace takes us back to a time when the main events were full of star power...but still had a hard time standing out over some midcard matches that stole the show...Summerslams 98 & 00 are our focus as guys like Rock, HHH, the Hardys, Edge & Christian all tried to make a name for themselves at the biggest show of the summer...

E51 - Extreme Rules Reactions - Raw Talk

WWE Water Cooler Talk...The last PPV before Summerslam is in the books and SFM is back reacting to Extreme Rules...It may not have been the best show we've ever seen but at the end of the day average wrestling is fun wrestling, and Extreme Rules gave us plenty to mark out over and discuss...

The show was carried by a a few very good matches...Lashley showed out in a very physical match with Roman...Rusev showed he belongs in the main event scene with his performance against the Phenomenal One...And Ziggler & Rollins did their best to end the show with a bang (Despite very little help from a tough Pittsburgh crowd)...We just need a little bit more from the Tag Team and Women's Divisions if these are supposed to be "super shows"... But we are confident one of those divisions are going to get it together...

We also get into a little Raw talk as we get ready to head down the Road to Summerslam...Is a Lashley-Roman rematch really what we wanted to see? How would we have booked the 2 triple threat matches on Monday?...Ronda v Bliss is official for Summerslam. How is Wes handling the news?...Where does Chace hope to see Rollins go after failing to earn a much deserved Universal Title shot?...And what else would we like to see at the upcoming second biggest show of the year?...

They will be walking away with our special edition GOLDEN ANNIVERSARY MARK OUT AWARDS...

Then it is on to the main event where we are wrapping up our trilogy on the "Little Guys"...After looking back at our Attitude and Ruthless Aggression Eras we saw who was responsible for blazing the trail for the smaller wrestlers we see dominating today...AJ Styles...Daniel Bryan...Seth Rollins...These guys are on top of the world despite not being close to the biggest guys on the roster...Is this the newest evolution of the business or do we think the pendulum swing back to the Giants one day? How does the cruiserweight division remain important with the new standard?

We're on to Extreme Rules so we look at back at the best of the go home shows and get a temperature check on some of these stories going into the weekend...Then we close things out looking ahead at the card and making our official predictions...

WWE Water Cooler Talk....We kick things off with a fun yet very important discussion. It was July 4th week so here at SFM we are Booking the BBQ in our Gimmick Segment...Who would we invite from the current WWE roster? There are a few different types of parties we can have here but we think we settle on a pretty fun crew in the end...

In our Main Event we continue on with our Little Guys discussion. This week traveling back to a very important era for these wrestlers, the Ruthless Aggression Era...This was a time when former Cruiserweights like Guerrero, Mysterio, and Benoit shattered the glass ceiling and became main event level stars...They blazed the trail for may of the undersized stars we see today like Daniel Bryan and AJ Styles...On top of that the RA Era was also special because the Cruiserweight Division was added with the purchase of WCW...Who had Wes marking out in the CW Division back in the day? With stars like Kidman, Noble, Hurricane, and Tajiri there was plenty of talent to choose from...

And of course we get into the current Raw and SD shows...It was a busy week for Roman, much to the dismay of many fans, but Wes thinks he might be seeing signs that something interesting may be happening for Roman and he makes his case...Chace about has a meltdown as we get into the Bayley-Sasha counseling story...And Team Hell No is back reminding us all how entertaining their dynamic can be...

In our gimmick segment we kick things off with a little GM roleplaying(and yes I know how that sounds)...Chace represents Raw, Wes takes SD Live, and they each make one more move they wish they saw during the real shakeup...

Then in our main event we are starting a very good discussion in our new trilogy...This one will be focused on a favorite title for many WWE fans out there, The Intercontinental Championship...We start back in the Attitude Era as Chace takes us through some of the biggest, most well known IC Champs of all time...We see an era that has some of the biggest stars this business has ever seen battling it out on the midcard for the IC Title...It was a time when the IC belt meant more than ever as you had the future stars that would carry the company into the future trying to make a name for themselves...

WWE Wrestlemania Talk....Wrestlemania 34 is in the books and what a show it was!  Sorry For Marking was there live & in person so this week we are bringing you our reactions to what we think was one of the better modern era Wrestlemanias...The main event was weird & it didn't end on a great note, but slide a couple things around and this would have been one of, if not the greatest, WM's of all time...Ronda Rousey tore the house down in her WWE debut...We saw Charlotte end the streak. And even bigger than that the women's division in general is one of the main stories coming out and this year showed woman can main event a WM one day...Undertaker and John Cena shared the ring...Several new champions were crowned...Shinsuke shows a different, promising side...We saw Daniel Bryan's return to the ring...It was a night full of big moments and excellent in ring action....

We had a blast down in NOLA and can't recommend attending a Wrestlemania weekend any more...Its a special time and this years was no exception...We thank you all for joining us around the water cooler here on this road to wrestlemania..But we all know the WWE never sleeps...Exciting things seem to be in the works coming out of this WM and we are excited for the new wrestling year...Be sure you are subscribed to the show here at Sorry For Marking so you can join us every awesome step of the way...

That’s our main take coming out of this ppv...We now have stories we can latch onto and get invested in for every feud on the show...We have 2 dream matches set as Styles retained and Asuka made her surprise appearance...Its hammer time with the Bludgeon Brothers as they insert themselves into the tag title picture (Don’t sleep on these guys! It’s going to be good!)...A very big and important night for Shinsuke as he gets ready for the biggest match of his WWE career...And lots of other good takeaways from a SD show that badly needed some new life...

E32- Predicting the Wrestlemania Card - Tales from the Dark Ages - Mark Out Awards

WWE Pro Wrestling talk…We are back with a jam packed episode as we prepare for Wrestlemania, and some of the superstars are stepping up their games in a big way...Nia Jax shows a ton a range in a big week for her in and out of the ring...Roman finally shows that “it factor” we’ve been waiting for...And the Smackdown side of things are getting better after the go home show for their Fastlane ppv...But which performers stand above the rest and walk away with our Mark Out Awards?...

Also we start the show by debuting a brand new gimmick segment, Tales from the Dark Ages...The dark ages are a time when WWE wasn’t always at it’s best but that doesn’t mean it was all bad...We have a couple hidden gems from back in 2007 that are definitely worth checking out and discussing...Then in a special main event segment, we are doing our best to predict the upcoming Wrestlemania 34 card. WWE Pro Wrestling talk….Raws last stop before Wrestlemania is in the books and we are back reacting to it all as the Mania card begins to take shape...The Women’s Division was a big story coming out of the show. WWE Pro Wrestling talk….This week we are finishing up what has been a very interesting Main Event on the BEST PROMOS of our eras…This week we are staying in the modern era and looking at some instant classic promos from guys like Mark Henry & the Miz...What does it take to be a great promo person in this new reality era landscape?...Who has what it takes to carry the company into the future promo wise?..Then finally we take the best 3 talkers from each era and decide, which era did it best…

E29- Ruthless Aggression Promos Get Real - 1st Ever Smark Report - Mark Out Awards

WWE Pro Wrestling talk 2/17/18…The guys are back breaking in the new studio with another fun episode...We are debuting a new gimmick segment this week where we discuss a couple of the hot rumors going around the wrestling world...And in our Main Event we are continuing our discussion of best promos, this time from Wes' Ruthless Aggression Era...We look back at a couple of great promos from that era that set the groundwork for the Reality Era we are all enjoying today...

Then of course we have some Mark Out Awards to give out in between...Raw continues to be a very fun pro wrestling show as we get closer to Elimination Chamber...Rollins is trying to bounce back after another injury derails his story, and we like what we saw from him this week...The Legit Boss is creeping closer and Chace can barely contain his excitement...Braun smash..again...But are we on board with the monster showing a bit of a softer side?...And over on Smackdown we have more news to discuss as some interesting booking decisions have lead to a jam packed main event scene on that show. WWE Pro Wrestling talk 2/9/18…Promos are the theme of the week... We are starting a brand new trilogy in our main event, the best promos/segments of our eras. And this is shaping up to be a fun one already...Chace takes us back to his Attitude Era and shows how some legends from his era were able to build their characters through great work on the mic. From Bret Hart to Y2J…And before all that we are kicking off the conversation with our favorite gimmick segment, a new Mt. Rushmore. As we select our favorite talkers/promos on the current roster…

And of course we have the best of the Rumble fallout on Raw and SD Live...After weeks of pleading we finally get multiple women’s segments and stories. The women's division can go in about 100 different directions right now so we try and sort through a few of our favorite possibilities...Romans road to the main event officially begins...The Uso’s are still very cool. And the rest of SD is still trying to just keep up with them...And Elias has another big night...There is so much going on right now as we start on the road to Mania…It's going to be a fun ride.
